Q&A: Public Finance Recruiting and Interviewing

Hello to anyone currently recruiting for public finance summer analyst or public finance analyst positions over the next few months! I realize public finance recruiting and interviewing can be a bit of a black box due to the lack of structured guides. So in the spirit of making these interviews more accessible to people who may not already have contacts in public finance that are prepping them for interviews, feel free to ask me any questions about recruiting or interviewing below!

For context, I’m currently an analyst at a bulge bracket public finance group.

Thank you so much for doing this! I have a few questions.

  1. How do you recommend preparing for interviews? I would love any online resources that you may be able to point to.

  2. Not sure if you might know anything about this but do you have any internationals in your group. I am an international student and interested in PF but I have been wondering if I'll be eligible to recruit for a group which advises state and local governments

Thank you again!
