Quant jobs / hedge funds in Boston for PhD level

As the title says, I have a PhD in physics and have been working in industrial RD for 4 years since completing my degree. I am leaving my job soon and I am considering transitioning to quantitative finance, and I would like to live in Boston. I have tried searching, and I have a list of firms in the northeast, but I would like some insight into which of those companies might be best suited for someone interested in the programming / stats / maths aspects. If the answer is 'all of them' - that's great. I'm sorry if this is a naive question, but I really don't know much about the industry or the reputations of different companies. Thank you in advance.
