whenever the phrase elite PG is used, i always think of rose, williams, paul as the top 3, and then everyone else. i suppose it's time to start putting rondo and westbrook in there.
Rose, Williams, and Paul are prolific scorers, which Rondo is not. However, I don't think that makes them better PGs, just better overall.
People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.
I cant put Westbrook in there until he stops making those stupid plays. He shouldnt have the ball in his hand so much if he's playing with KD. I'm gonna wait until next season before I enter him into that conversation. He's made leaps though.
Cant put Rondo in there either. I dont see him carrying a team on his back like CP3 did in Game 1. Can he potentially? Sure, but right now 2nd tier.
Wheres Steve Nash? Had a fantastic season. Kinda tired of him being overlooked.
My top 4:
Derrick Rose
CP3
D. Williams
Steve Nash
Got Westbrook, Rondo, John Wall kinda in same tier. Russ and Rondo ought to break out, Wall ought to as well if he can stay healthy.

Rondo is much, much better than Wall. And "can't carry his team?" Did you watch the 2010 NBA Playoffs? Have you seen the last two games of the Celts-Knicks series? Don't overlook his defensive tenacity and strength on the glass either. his lack of a great perimeter game and FT ability suppress his scoring and keeps him out of the top 3, though he is definitely in the discussion.

IMHO:
Rose
CP3
DWill
Rondo
Nash
Westbrook
Harris
Never said Wall is better. I had Rondo at the top of my second tier, ahead of Westbrook. But cant push him up there until he develops a lot more. I just cant see why he doesnt go to Ray Allen, "Hey Jesus, I need to work on my J. Help me out"
And Devon Harris?! Really?! The following are better than Devon Harris
Kyle Lowry
Tony Parker
Jameer Nelson
Stephen Curry
Chauncey
JRue Holiday
Ty Lawson
Raymond Felton
I think the phrase 'pure point' is overrated and overused. Guy plays point, he is a point. Kinda diminishes Rondo somewhat when everyone uses that to describe him.
Aside from his shooting, he can disappear from games from time to time. Guy with the ball in his hands, this should not happen. Sample: last 20 games of last season and games 50 to at least 75. APG dropped massively, scoring dropped and team lost.
Derrick Rose: best scoring point guard in the last little while, can take over a game and he has more than adequate court vision.
Nash: Old. Careless. No D. White.
CP3: Most talented point guard/player in the NBA, but makes stupid mistakes way too often; slides in to the background from time to time.
Deron: Talented, could be amazing; played/plays for teams that are too shitty to make good sense of it. Not enough of a winner.
Rondo: Best pure point guard, transition passer (bar Baron Davis in his prime). Celtics have unlimited shooting threats inside and outside the arc.
"Until and unless you discover that money is the root of all good, you ask for your own destruction. When money ceases to become the means by which men deal with one another, then men become the tools of other men. Blood, whips and guns or dollars."
Rondo benefits so much from Allen, Pierce, and Garnett. Steve Nash is okay but I feel like he is never going to win a championship or be competitive again. Take away the team and just compare the PGs. Nobody will mention Rondo before Rose, Williams, or Paul. He is between elite and average lol.
Yea Rondo is benefited by the other players on his team. He wouldn't be as effective without all the scoring options around him. Hes still a great defender, but can't shoot. He can drive well, so yea.
I believe Westbrook is better than Rondo, he crazy atletic, very fast, great at D and a good playmaker. Plus he can score better than Rondo.
You see, I like playing sports. In fact, I LOVE anything athletic. But, given that I actually had to google the names in this post, it has just occured to me that I truly suck at following professional sports.
Westbrook is much better than Rondo. I think the top three in the league right now are def Rose, Williams, CP3 (as someone else pointed out above) but I think Westbrook can be added into the group of "elite" PGs.
His alright...a superstar with the team around him...but just alright by himself. I mean he doesn't have a jumper, isn't a great FT shooter. Can't put him with rose/williams/cp3/westbrook.
But hey, his on the right team and his killing it so good for him.
Rondo doesn't have to score 20-30 a night because he has 3 HOF players to do that for him. However, if he needs to i feel like he can turn it on when the big 3 are struggling as evidenced by game 3 of the playoffs. If he can develop a consistent mid range game he COULD be in the conversation with Rose and Paul. He does have one thing all of the above players don't. A ring.
Here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, you are the sucker.
Lolz at whoever mentioned John Wall. Do you watch the NBA or just read ESPN?
If you read what I wrote, I mentioned him in the next tier, below the elite. He's pretty great already and will only improve.
John Wall is nowhere near Westbrook, that comparison (or putting them in the same tier) is a joke. He's out of control and has inflated assist numbers. We'll see if he's serious about improving.
I would probably take Rondo as my point guard, Rose will start getting injuries with the way he plays as he gets older. If Rondo could develop some sort of jumpshot (Carter was playing defense behind the free throw when Rondo is at the top of the three), he would be the best point guard. Rose isnt a point guard in my opinion.

I think the lack of respect for his jump shot actually helps him out a lot. If his defender just sits back and doesn't apply pressure, Rondo's passing lanes and vision are wide open and can just sit back and make the right play... IMO whoever guards him would be much better off playing him tight, even though we all know he's not a threat to shoot.
And the point about the last two Knicks games. Point out to me how he carried the team. He got 20 assists but the team was shooting like 60% or something.
I think his assists go up as the team shoots well. There must be a correlation..
Steve Nash is a competitor. May not win a chip but thats down to Robert Sarver and his moronic moves. Nash ought to have had at least 2 championships by now. Would have won in 2005 and 2007.
Rondo's biggest weakness is obviously his lack of a consistent scoring ability. This being said, he's blindingly fast and the Big 3 don't exactly need another scorer. Rondo could probably be a little smarter too. It's gotten better, but he still suffers from questionable decision-making at times.
As I have time and time again. Rose is not a TRUE PG, he is some sort of hybrid. TRUE PG's are those of
1. Chris Paul
2. Deron Williams
3. Rajon Rondo
4.Russell Westbrook.
Rose's assist numbers are around 6. One may even argue that LeBron has become a PG this year too.
You give me a gift? *BAM* Thank you note! You invite me somewhere? *POW* RSVP! You do me a favor? *WHAM* Favor returned! Do not test my politeness.

Rose's assist numbers are around 8. What makes a "true" PG and why do we slot players into preconceived notions of what they should be? Rose is a PG and he scores a lot because he needs to. That doesn't make him any less of a PG.

^ditto It's been always Paul, Rose, and Williams for me. I suppose Rondo and Westbrook could follow.
Rondo is made better by the cast around him switch rondo and cp3 and there is no way rondo does what paul does.

Hell, I'd take Darren Collison before Harris.
Kyle Lowry, massively underrated.
Westbrook belongs. He can score 30 rebound. Play D. And run the team

he's not the best but he's good

gsduke sucks-so does rondo. Lebron James is the champ-he will be the king with a ring.
KYS. as Jeff would say
Charles Barkley should, i know more hoops that he does.
Definitely alien
