Renewables vs Oil & Gas Research

Hi All,

I'm wondering if some people who work in energy equity research could give me some insight as to why they may have chosen renewable energy research over oil & gas, or maybe if they have done both which one they preferred and why?

I like the prospects of renewables being more of a growth area within the energy industry, but oil & gas, with the current price upheaval and calamity this is causing in economies around the world, seems very interesting to do research on.

Any insight/advice you could give would be much appreciated.
