REPE out of Undergrad - how difficult?
For those who may have the statistics/thoughts… a few questions
-
How difficult is it to get into the equity side (specifically acquisitions) at a top 100 PERE firm out of undergrad? How many individuals are there (50? 100? 500?)
-
What are the main firms that directly hire out of undergrad? Best ones to be in, for acquisitions, as a first year?
-
What’s the typical compensation package look like for the above mentioned roles/firms/individuals (first years)?
Something tells me you've done little to no research on your own about the industry
FYI... the bottom (just making a generalized guess here tbh) 50 on the PERE 100 starts to get pretty small pretty quick.... They are not all "Blackstone/Starwood" types by any stretch, not in scale/scope or compensation or god forbid "prestige".... So, this question... is kinda like asking "how hard is it to get a real estate job and what will it pay"... Too broad to hope to get really useful responses.
As others said, this is a really broad question and tough to answer intelligently. That being said, REPE is certainly easier to get into out of undergrad than traditional PE. My guess is that is somewhat market dependent as well. Many of the Chicago firms hire out of undergrad. I would have to imagine that is less true for NYC, for example. In terms of pay, I'm a little outdated but expectations should probably be in the $75-100K all in range. I was towards the upper band of that range out of undergrad.
