REPE Recruiting after REIB

Once you start working at a REIB, when do you start the REPE recruiting process? Do you go search for firms yourself or do you go through a headhunting firm?

Additionally, I'm looking to work in London for two years and then come back to the US (sponsorship not an issue in either scenario) - how does international PE recruiting work that way?

I'd say you want to be visible to the headhunter firms (that is nothing more than having a good linkedin page), just remember they work for the hiring firms, not you. Generally, you are most marketable out of REIB in the 2-3+ year zone, so starting to network/plot/etc. after 1 year is probably smart.

The London thing is a twist (ignoring the whole pandemic thing), you will really need to network/market yourself for that, don't expect any HH firm to bring that to you. Easiest route is to look for company with operations in both US and UK, makes for easier rotation back (that is a whole other story). Not impossible to do all this, but it is all on you to pull it off.
