it's highly tailored...synthetic equity financing via repos is traded, but finding a counterparty is tough given how many repos are idiosyncratic.
repos on govies are much more liquid and thickly traded

I have experience in liquidity and treasury but not actually trading on a desk. Is this something that is mandatory?
