Resume for summer internship w/ low GPA

Hi there!

Before I start throwing my doubts, I want to thank you all for this great community it is. I've been reading you for over a year and I find this forum very productive with very interesting posts and people's experience.

Once this said, I'm going to apply for a summer internship in the US (I'm from Barcelona, Spain) next year and since it's my first application for an IB I'm not pretty sure wether I'm doing things right or not. My main problem when applinc for these banks is my LOW GPA and not coming from a target university (University of Barcelona). Not a Harvard or a Columbia. Though, I describe myself as a very enterpeneurship person and got involved into the business world since my freshman year.

I've founded a very strong financial organization on my first year of college and last month created a new business, related to the financial world, with an Ex-Manager of a well-known financial corporation here in Spain.

Though my problem is still my GPA (a 6.2/10, that I guess it would be a 2.5/4). So I've got few questions: a) Do you think I've got any chance to get into any important IB? b) Do you think I should put down my GPA on my resume? c) Do they really throw off your resume if they don't see your GPA anywhere in the resume?

And this is my resume (i know there's few typos, still haven't checked them out):

2.5/4.0 = dinged by the online application system, which automatically filters out GPA below a certain range. It won't even get to the analysts' desk.

Getting an internship in the US is hard even for top EU targets due to heavy competition from domestic schools and visa restrictions. not sure why you're so hopeful

Secondly, 6.2/10 does not necessarily convert to US GPA in same ratios. Grading in strict in some European countries. Most accurate (probably too accurate) would be to use your ECTS grades for each course. A = American 4.0/4.0

i believe that your 6.2/10 is not 2.5/4

check the percentages and then google a bit to see where you fit..

for example, where i study happens often that the pass grade requires 70% on the test

The application will not be your friend w/o at least a 3.5 GPA (often the cut off). Like others have said, it's hard enough for a U.S. (highly qualified) candidate to get an IB internship. Throw in the Visa requirement, and you better be a rock star or the son of a billionaire investing their money with a certain bank.

I would highly suggest to not waste too much time applying to U.S. I-banks, focus on European banks. Boutique is probably the best bet.

Don't just apply, you need to make friends. You need someone in the firm to get your foot in the door.
