Resume forwarded to HR from VP at BB

Just wondering how to approach this situation. Met with VP who offered to help by forwarding my resume to a friend of his in HR. He said I should reach out to him/her also. What do you guys suggest I say in the email?? Should I mention specific areas I'm interested in or do I just say I'm reaching out because VP recommended I should?

Dear [],

My name is ... I received your name from ... very interested in your bank particularly xyz department ... let me know if there is anything I can do ... thanks so much for your time.

Best/Regards

Attach resume.

*** I wouldn't say you are interested in a particular industry or product as that may exclude you from an opportunity; also with things like this I usually try to get the person on the phone, h/w there is not much that would do with an HR person, ideally he/she (usually a she) will just get your resume to a group or a department that needs people.

well i got the informational interview through an alumni who forwarded my resume to the VP (hiring manager). He said he was going to send my resume to HR and for me to apply as well so we could hit them from both sides. My alum e-mailed me and said that he heard i had a good conversation with so and so. I really hope i get this interview.

KICKIN ASS AND TAKING NAMES

Honestly its a different office and only a VP. You probably wont get dinged by HR but the rest is in the air.
