Resume forwarded to HR from VP at BB
Just wondering how to approach this situation. Met with VP who offered to help by forwarding my resume to a friend of his in HR. He said I should reach out to him/her also. What do you guys suggest I say in the email?? Should I mention specific areas I'm interested in or do I just say I'm reaching out because VP recommended I should?
doesnt hurt to write your interests....if you have them.
If not say your interested in their industry.
say u had a meeting with abc and youre interested in xyz, simple
this happened to me too
Subject: Referral from [friend's name]
Dear [],
My name is ... I received your name from ... very interested in your bank particularly xyz department ... let me know if there is anything I can do ... thanks so much for your time.
Best/Regards
Attach resume.
*** I wouldn't say you are interested in a particular industry or product as that may exclude you from an opportunity; also with things like this I usually try to get the person on the phone, h/w there is not much that would do with an HR person, ideally he/she (usually a she) will just get your resume to a group or a department that needs people.
VP Forwarding Resume (Originally Posted: 06/01/2010)
If a VP who is the hiring manager forwards your resume to HR, how likely is it that you will get an interview? keep in mind that my GPA is pretty low 2.9-3.0. Typically, how long does it take till they notify you that you have been chosen for an interview? I just need to get this interview because i know I will absolutely nail it.
did he forward or give a good word as well? big difference - i've gotten an interview even single time the VP/MD said theyll put in a good word, and never gotten an interview from a straight forward
well i got the informational interview through an alumni who forwarded my resume to the VP (hiring manager). He said he was going to send my resume to HR and for me to apply as well so we could hit them from both sides. My alum e-mailed me and said that he heard i had a good conversation with so and so. I really hope i get this interview.
if the vp is the hiring manager why isnt he just bringing you in?
BB VP Forwarding my resume (Originally Posted: 10/15/2012)
If a VP at a top BB said he was forwarding my resume to the head of recruiting in New York (he's at a West Coast office). What does that really mean for me? He said to still apply through the regular channels though.
Does it mean im more likely to get an interview?
FYI: He mentioned my resume is good and I didnt ask him to forward it or anything. And its for Junior SA recruiting
Thanks
EDIT: I want to work on the West Coast, the head of recruiting for banking in general is in NYC.
You have made it to the first pile to be screened. It's a big pile.
Haha thanks for the response. So no real impact in regards to getting an interview then?
Honestly its a different office and only a VP. You probably wont get dinged by HR but the rest is in the air.
lol u jelly?
