SA positions at KKR, Carlyle, etc
out of all the big PE firms only Blackstone recruits at my school, are there SA positions that convert to FT for KKR, other big PE firms? I'd assume theyre difficult to get if theyre available but do they do any recruiting at all or would you need to know someone? thanks!
also how would an SA at KKR set you up for FT recruiting at BBs if you would rather do something more general before moving to PE/HF? Does it look better, worse than BB SA? thanks!
it appears that KKR recruits SAs in asset management at Penn and Princeton undergrad (based on a two second google search)
found this bio on the KKR website: he is a CFA, CPA, JD and MBA, holy mole that's a ton of letters behind your name...
Geoff has a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in Economics, a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law, and an M.B.A. with high honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a C.F.A. Charterholder.
Don't forget this guy is approximately 62,000 years old.
This guy from Carlyle has the most impressive background I've seen yet far.
"Wayne Wen-Tsui Tsou Managing Director Hong Kong
Mr. Tsou holds a Juris Doctor from the Harvard Law School, an MBA from the Harvard Business School, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (“Caltech”), and a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan."
Apparently all those by 37. That's just nauseating.
Haha, wow. I don't know how to respond.
Haha...he's a very impressive guy. I've known him for a few years. Probably one of the big influences that got me interested in finance (for better or worse)
^agreed
this guy is the finance equivalent of a Supreme Court nominee

Why are you guys so impressed by a bunch of degrees?
I'd be more impressed by the people with UG and MBA at top programs, top groups at top firms and a series of blockbuster deals under their belt.
Or one guy with Princeton UG, Harvard MBA, CIA clandestine services, ended up heading a major BB's international office, then off to a PE fund.
he does have degrees from top programs and I am sure he has worked at top firms...
anyway a cool and impressive resume item would be a captain of a navy seals team. lol can you imagine the interview: so... tell me a time you faced a challenge...
or if you had to interview Tom Brady or Obama or some shit. Hm.. says here in your resume you were the President of the United States... how was that?
how tough is it to land SA at KKR and how would that look for IBD FT, compared to SA in IBD? thanks!
this thread is pretty dazed and confused
This thread is basically a circle jerk.
Anyway, KKR takes kids out of undergrad for PE, as does BX. Bain Capital takes kid out of undergrad for SA, but only for their debt side.
kkr doesnt take anyone straight out of undergrad for PE
Yes, KKR does, though it is rare.
