schools for investment banking in the Washington DC area.

Im a transfer prospect and live around the DC area, there is a strong presence of Banks around here, so I was wondering what schools could give me a chance to land me a job here. targets and semi targets. Also, would going to Indiana give me a shot? Thanks.

I wouldn't say there is a strong banking presence. Most of the larger firms that have a presence in DC just have a small A&D group. With the exception of Houlihan Lokey, there really isn't that large of a footprint in DC. Baird has a small real estate group and Jefferies has an A&D group (like 5 people). Raymond James and Signal Hill have small groups out in Reston. There several regional boutiques as well. A lot of DC recruits come from UVa, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, Georgetown, and Duke.

UMBC grad, English degree with 2.7 here. Really depends what you want to do when you get out of school. I got into software sales, had a killer record over 2 years of beating targets and now I am on the sales side of a corporate currency trading firm in Crystal City. But my advice? Don't take life to seriously, go to the school you think you would be happiest at, do as well there as you can, and things will work out. While it's nice to go "petal to the metal" and get that white shoe job right out of school life is a marathon not a sprint and you haven't "made it" when you get into the door of that job, you've just begun.

Also ignore the people saying "Georgetown only". Honestly just about any school in the area will have alumni groups and anyone in the area will make most of its decision based on how well you do in the interview. Good luck and I hope this helps.
