Seeking to move into a trading role

Currently in a middle office role at a BB and would like to move into a trading role in FO S&T. Apart from networking Is there something else I can do to give my resume a boost? Currently working on a VBA course and actually have a few macros working for me at my role now, was thinking about taking CMT level 1. Thoughts?

step 1 - learn object oriented programming - try reading a book first step 2 - learn Excel, VBA, ADQ, SQL (use SQL Server 2012 Express to learn), stored procedures Step 3 - learn python

all the above can be leaned for free on the web

Step 4 - get a job as a trading asst on a trading desk, and after 1-2 years, try for a seat as a junior trader.

just google it...you're welcome
