No, doing two masters degrees does not make sense. It is very competitive to break into finance in Toronto and the main feeder schools at the analyst level are Ivey (undergrad), Queens (Undergrad) and the University of Toronto's MFIN (Rotman)/MMF (Mathematical Finance) programs.

At the associate level RBC hires mainly from Rotman / Ivey MBA programs.

To answer your questions, 1. Does this plan make sense? Not in my opinion.

  1. Does RBC recruit students from mid-level universities? They do, but it is much much harder to break in.

  2. Will Toronto Uni look at my recent master grades or my poor undergrad? Both.

' I know that with my ordinary 2:2 degree (not honours) I have no chance to get into RBC. '

I would disagree with this. You never know- with the right connections/networking, anything is possible. If not a FO gig, maybe middle office?
