Should i bother trying to get in?

Hello
I have been reading on the forums for a while and i decided to post.
I would like to get a job into investment banking specifically. But my resume is weak, i graduated from a no-name university in 2013 with 3.11 gpa, basically i have not worked in my life apart from an odd job here and there (i was in pretty bad shape for many years ,i just have been diagnosed with depression and i am treating it).I am banging my head on the wall for the situation that i put myself,is there any way to turn this upside down and land a gig at a small shop or something.
Thanks

Yes it's possible. Just network, network, network. Start with a LinkedIn Alumni search and use your friends and family as resources for connections. It really just takes one person to stick their neck out for you. Reach out to smaller banks, consider asking for an unpaid internship if you have the financial resources.

Beyond this, you should probably be spending a lot of time learning the material for interviews to compensate for your weak background. I personally just started using the WSO IB Prep Pack and though it is legit, there are a million free resources online as well.

And it's okay to be honest with your recruiters, but don't sound so sad. You sound like you're very sorry for yourself, and they probably won't see that as a good fit.

MBA at a top 25 program would be your best shot. You should be about 26 now. Do something very relevant in a space for 2 years (ex. tech sales at IBM) and apply to all top 25 programs. Slay your GMATs (750+) as well. This should give you a fighting chance to get to one of these schools and have solid OCR; worst comes to worst, you can take a nice 6 figure corporate gig post MBA if you can't get banking.

Guys it seems like hope is not lost,i tried networking, and a guy who works in restructuring in a small boutique will vouch for me.Do you have any info on how to prepare ,i am so overwhelmed and happy right now, don't know where to begin.
