Should I contact Hiring Manager (who is an MD) after interview
Had an interview last week for a MM bank on the West Coast. Group was for a small product group. Interview was Wednesday and didn't hear anything back after a couple days (usually a bad sign), so I followed up with the HR person who said they had additional interviews scheduled that Friday. Still have not heard anything, and I was wondering if I should just call the MD directly to ask if a decision has been made. I sent him a thank you email after the interview (no response) and a follow up email that friday (no response).
I know that there is a 95% chance that I was not selected, but I can not stand being left out of the know. I would much rather them nut-up and tell me than to be ghosted. Thoughts?

You followed up with HR two days after the interview? Slow your roll, bro. The MD will almost certainly be annoyed. I would hold off for another week. Good luck.

I interviewed 6 days ago with an MD for a role in a MM bank through a recruiter. He gave me his card after and said contact him with any questions. I haven't heard anything directly from the bank or the recruiter since then and have dropped the recruiter a couple of emails with no repsonse. The interview seemed to go really well and the guys who interviewed me seemed genuinly impressed but i'm not sure whether getting in touch with the MD will make me seem desperate or pro-active at this point. Also not sure what sure what to say. Sit tight or drop him a note?
While it sucks, he probably won't respond. The "contact me with any questions" line is pretty standard at the end of any interview. Did you send him a thank you note after the interview? Did you get a response?
Hi, to my error i didn't send a thank you note. Assume that while I probably should have, if that was the only reason i don't get second rounded i was probably hanging by a thread anyway!
analyst123, I don't think it's a big deal if you sent a thank you email or not. I've heard from many people that thank you emails never get looked at and are nuisances if they are sent over the weekend or late at night. As for whether you should contact the MD or not, I'd say it's your call, but remember that if he liked you and pulled for you, then you should get a call back regardless of whether you email him or not.
Also, another thing you need to keep in mind is that off cycle MM interviews are much slower paced than what takes place during the recruiting season. With on campus interviews usually the whole process (first round, second round, offer) takes about a week or so. However, when you're dealing with MM firms, many times the actual bankers themselves take care of the recruiting process. Often they will bring in several first round candidates over the course of 2-3 weeks, then make a decision about who to bring back for the second round. So it's not unusual to after a couple of weeks, esp if there are holidays in btw.
It does matter, but one week isn't too late. Just send him an email, thank him for his time and say you hope you can work for MS.
ALWAYS SAY THANK-YOU. (At the very least, people over 25-30 will be mildly impressed.)

Last Friday I had an interview for a Fixed Income Research associate role at a smaller global investment bank. The MD contacted me directly, I cam in to the interview, interviewed with him for almost an hour then an associate. He said he would contact me to come in this week again but alas it's Friday and I didn't hear anything back. Is it too soon? Should I shoot him an email or just wait until next week?
Although I'm no expert, I'd wait until Monday to shoot him an email again.
