Sophomore year summer: Private equity or Investment banking?

Obviously you can only take what's on the table, but if given both opportunities, which would you take to best set yourself up for a BB SA offer for junior year and why?

1. Mid-market boutique PE firm

or

2. Boutique investment bank

My rationale is that not taking firm reputation into account, the boutique investment bank would serve better on a resume/interview because the skills likely used during the internship(though menial and often administrative in nature) is more translatable, but I could be wrong.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I would say the PE group, but solely because I think it would be a better networking opportunity to pally up to them to introduce you to their BB buddies, and worse case scenario you get a return summer offer to do another PE internship there and return full-time and go to PE straight out of undergrad

PE > IBD ... right? my 2 cents
