Specific Fund ?k

I was reading an article about funds that started very small and have really grown. I cant recall the name, I think the manager may have been from cornell, though I may be wrong. He has a heavy engineering background and staff uses a lot of data algorithms though the fund is more stock picking and he has a CFA. If you could list that seem to fit and as mentioned cornell might be wrong. Thanks.
