SRI or ESG in BIG INVESTMENT BANKING FIRMS

Heya I wanted to ask about getting a job/internship at the Morgan Stanley Institute for Sustainable Investment or how to become an SRI or ESG analyst at one of the investment banks.

I am speaking in regards to "The 7 most interesting people hired by Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley this year, and what they mean for you" and Victoria Chapelow's story about being an SRI analyst --> cannot post link, but its on efinancial careers website. (Anyway, she used to be an accountant for PwC, got a master in Environmental science, then banked a job with MS as an SRI analyst).

I am currently doing an internship in an investment management firm as an ESG Research intern and am really excited in a career in SRI in a bigger financial institution.

So please do let me know if you have advice :)

And finally, is the MS SRI institute located/available in a certain geographic location as opposed to IBD or Equities research available throughout various regions/locations?

Thank you so much!!!!

PS. Newbie here, so I apologize if I put this under the wrong forum topic.

Tip - at the early stages of your career, be very selective who you tell about your goal of getting into SRI or ESG.

Every so often we get intern applications from people who earnestly mention their ambition to get into SRI, ESG or similar. It effectively flags to us "hey guys, I'd like to use you as a stepping stone to get somewhere quite different and I'm only interested in you as a stepping stone".

I know that most jobs are stepping stones, but if you're earnest/dumb enough to flag it heavily to us, then you're missing some vital commonsense that we value. Ding.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

I'd like to query that advice, @SSits. If your applying for a job or an internship with Morgan Stanley Institute for Sustainable Investment, why would you not want to mention that you are interested in sustainable investment?
