Starting a Student Managed Fund

Hello all,

I am looking to start a student managed fund at my university. However, the funds that have already tried to be set up have been denied by our school board for one basic reason: grants from donors were lacking. I go to a smaller non target and was wondering if anyone had experience in this or had any ideas on how to best go about starting a student managed fund at a university? Would love to talk to people who have done it before....Advice?

If you can't get a grant from the school's endowment, try partnering with local AM firms. This could also help with recruiting, ect.

I have heard that but a negative might be that they control most of what the fund does which may be a downside

This is true. They will likely put constraints on the fund, such as long only, ect. Even so, this is better than nothing.
