Startup Hedge Fund Entity structure
Hi,
I have started a hedge fund. But I am looking for ways to structure the business into such a way that, I can bring in a wide range of investors like US and Non-US. I want sort of a multinational hedge fund structure where, a lot of strategies of different types can be used. With investors of different countries can participate in a tax efficient manner.
I have set up a LLC last year and set it up to taxed as C Corp with IRS. It's a solo adventure and I'm looking to get suggestions on all types thing that are put into a hedge fund like Prime Broker, Entity structure, Law firms, PR team, recruitment.
Also different regulatory compliance norms. Especially first would like to explore US compliance the most. Then other major financial hubs.
The goal is to build a multi-national hedge fund.
Thanks & Regards

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Can anyone answer the question? Also is having a CFA charter or a CMT beneficial to get investors, and does having these credentials make you more legit?
Any suggestions?
Bump.
This book really covers all of your questions, and more.

However, speaking from experience, your best bet is to find managed account investors. This saves you the immense cost and hassle of setting up all the fund entities, and it's much lighter on regulation. Furthermore, investors can take a bit more risk on you because they retain custody of the assets - you just have power of attorney in a trading account. Then when you have more of a track record you can launch the fund structure.
Thank You very much for a thoughtful response. i already have an LLC that can function as a manager. It's the best solution for a new manager to start as a manged account firm rather than starting a pool fund.
