Strategy& PEVC vs. KPMG Strategy Post-MBA?

First post!

I’m currently trying to pick between Strategy&’s PEVC group and KPMG Strategy (both offers for NYC), and I’m looking for some insight/help in making this decision. I don’t have a consulting background – I worked at a startup, and then at an industrial supply company in an operations management role before starting my MBA (in the Midwest).

My brother (who has spent his entire career, post/pre MBA, at an MBB firm) recommended that I take the S& offer. I’m leaning that way, but I wanted to get a more unbiased opinion from someone who went through a similar situation (i.e. going from industry to consulting post MBA).

Some things I’ve been considering:

Strategy& PEVC • Operational due diligence work seems more interesting / shorter (I get bored easily) • The people there made a good pitch about how their business is more resilient to recessions • Likely less travel (I’ve got dependents/family in NYC) • I’ve heard that it likely will yield better exit opportunities

KPMG Strategy • People seem to have a better work/life balance – it also felt more laid back • Existing relationships with multiple consultants (I know for sure I would like working with them) • More project diversity than S& • They made a pitch about organic growth, and stability that comes with it (again, the family piece)

Would love to get your thoughts – many thanks in advance!

Thank you!

What are some typical exits for someone at S& or KPMG Strategy? I either know lifetime consultants or 1st year senior associates, so I'm not too familiar with what people typically do afterwards.
