Stuck as Internal Audit Manager

Hi all,

I need some advice.

Im an Internal Audit Manager with 7 years total internal audit experience. Degree in accounting and finance. CCAB qualified.

For the last 3 years I've tried to break into different industries; investment banking, asset management, etc... with not even a single call for interview (initially applied for analyst level roles, and more recently for associate).

I hate internal audit. It feels like a dead end career. I.e. I might get a senior manager position or head of audit position one day, for 40% more money, but that's it.

Has anyone been where I am, or know of any routes out of the Internal Audit trap?

Thanks.
