S/U Grading to Maintain GPA
Hello there,
I am currently a Junior at a non-target school interested in a career in investment banking. Due to Covid-19 my school has given us the option to switch our final grades to satisfactory/ unsatisfactory to not effect our GPA. Currently I have a 3.52 cumulative GPA and 4.0 major GPA. This semester I am taking 18 credit hours and it is looking like I will finish with four A’s, one B, and I am on the fence of an A/B for one class.
My question is whether or not it would be worth it to switch any B’s I may get to a satisfactory grade. Worst case scenario would be if I got two B’s my cumulative GPA would move to a 3.55 and my major GPA would drop to a 3.75. On the other hand, if I were to get 2 B’s and take a satisfactory grade in both classes my cumulative GPA would raise to a 3.6 and my major GPA would stay at a 4.0. I know that GPA is an important factor when applying for jobs in the investment banking industry so I was wondering what other people’s thoughts are on my situation.
If you're a junior with no IB internship offers at a nontarget the traditional recruiting ship may have sailed.
