Suit up ?
Hey guys, i know this sounds tremendously stupid, but here we go:
just got hired and i have to pop by in the office to sign some papers with hr this week. My contract starts next week so i dont think i will see much people appart from hr. What do you think would be appropriate to wear ?
Conservative shoes, dark blue pants and blue shirt or pop by with a suit ? I will probably stay there 1 hour max to get paperwork sorted.
Just wear a suit, what do you lose
Suit. Nobody ever got in trouble for wearing a suit.
Ditto with the suit. What if you run into someone you know? A colleague? HR? Someone you may need to know in the future? No need to look like a schmuck - things like this happen.
I'd personally go business casual. Unless you have a good reason if someone ask "hey why the suit?" you are gonna look silly for wearing it to sign papers.
Personally, I don't ever do total business casual. So my default in your situation would be a suit, no tie/top button.
Suit up! I would rather be overdressed than underdressed. But I don't actually think you could go wrong with a suit.
Slacks and a polo or slacks and a button up. A suit is overkill for what you're doing and will come off like you're trying way too hard. You're not going into work and you're not working. You're simply popping by on your day off to sign some papers. Act like you've been there even if you haven't.
(ask the HR department what would be appropriate -- they're used to dealing with noobs.)
Don't wear a suit. You will look like a tool.
