Summit Partners - Healthcare GE Associate Menlo Park
Hello,
I will be speaking with the headhunter in a few days, and I have done my research about the GE industry.
What is the culture and career progression within this group? I am scared to move from the Midwest to West Coast and I know I am just talking out loud for now since no offer is on the table yet. However, the opportunity seems interesting to me so please share your thoughts here.
Thanks!
Hey Analyst 1 in IB-M&A, I'm here because nobody responded to this thread after a few days...maybe one of these resources will help you:
More suggestions...
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
😃
Healthcare is probably best group at Summit. Very good investors. You have to go into office in Menlo so commute sucks as you will want to live in SF
Thank you! I think I am going to cry while commuting because I am not going to live in Oakland…
If you want a sourcing skillset, Summit is one of the top ~2 in my mind up there with Insight (you will learn how to dial for dollars better than anyone)
Hello, and thank you for your response. To be honest with you, I want to learn this soft skill and it is a puzzle for me to figure out how to do it best. I love a challenge that my friends and family have always thrown at me: you cannot have a good business conversation yet.
Somedays, I will have a feeling that I will want to quit this job, but at least before I leave, I have this soft skill to carry with me. Not everyone is good at talking, and at least I know that is what I am going to do when I "source".
My question is whether the company will give me a "script" how to cold call and how to ace the call and bring business in. Or, is this something I have to figure it out?
Thank you!
They teach you how to source. There are plenty of "scripts" in that they have tricks and phrases and approaches to getting people on the phone and then controlling the conversation to go where you need it... think of them like keys to a lock. They will guide you to certain numbers you need to gather during each call (this is the part of the calls that are methodical... asking for things like ARR) but over time that will become second natured and when you take these calls, it will sound like one seasoned professional talking to another seasoned professional (rather than an Associate trying to gather data). That is what the sourcing program nets you.
In short, however, you are not a sourcing wiz now, but they will get you there... they don't let Associates flounder otherwise they wouldn't still be around as a sourcing led shop...
Are you a first or a second year currently? Curious because I've been networking with Summit but haven't heard anything
1st year but I am the baddest 😆😆
Which HH covers Summit?
I was approached for this exact role (HC GE @ Menlo Park) through Harris McGall & Associates. Turned it down b/c of location but the person who called me (Marnie) seemed sharp and knowledgeable about the industry.
