Summit Partners - Healthcare GE Associate Menlo Park

Hello,

I will be speaking with the headhunter in a few days, and I have done my research about the GE industry.

What is the culture and career progression within this group? I am scared to move from the Midwest to West Coast and I know I am just talking out loud for now since no offer is on the table yet. However, the opportunity seems interesting to me so please share your thoughts here.

Thanks!

Hello, and thank you for your response. To be honest with you, I want to learn this soft skill and it is a puzzle for me to figure out how to do it best. I love a challenge that my friends and family have always thrown at me: you cannot have a good business conversation yet.

Somedays, I will have a feeling that I will want to quit this job, but at least before I leave, I have this soft skill to carry with me. Not everyone is good at talking, and at least I know that is what I am going to do when I "source".

My question is whether the company will give me a "script" how to cold call and how to ace the call and bring business in. Or, is this something I have to figure it out?

Thank you!

They teach you how to source. There are plenty of "scripts" in that they have tricks and phrases and approaches to getting people on the phone and then controlling the conversation to go where you need it... think of them like keys to a lock. They will guide you to certain numbers you need to gather during each call (this is the part of the calls that are methodical... asking for things like ARR) but over time that will become second natured and when you take these calls, it will sound like one seasoned professional talking to another seasoned professional (rather than an Associate trying to gather data). That is what the sourcing program nets you.

In short, however, you are not a sourcing wiz now, but they will get you there... they don't let Associates flounder otherwise they wouldn't still be around as a sourcing led shop...
