Switching firms at the Senior Analyst level
I am hoping to switch sell-side platforms at the senior level.
Right now, I am at an established research boutique. Just made senior not too long ago and am still in the process of rolling out my full coverage. I am very happy here, compensation is good, but for personal reasons I need to relocate back to my hometown. Realize timing could be better.
There are three MM firms with a research presence in my hometown (and one boutique as well, but I would like to avoid as it would be a step down IMO). Wondering how open firms are to the move I am attempting and while I have brief buy side experience, I have not completed CFA, nor do I have an MBA.
I have contacts that can get my resume/reports seen at each of these three firms, but I can't overly leverage as its obviously awkward to be telling a client or sales guy I am hoping to leave my current shop.
Anyone made this move or observed it? Strangely I don't know any seniors that have moved for reasons other than layoffs. Thanks.
The senior moves I've seen have been when somebody leaves xyz shop so they call up a senior or an experienced associate covering the same sector at another shop to come in and fill the hole.
