Switching from Engineering to Finance

Dear Friends,
Hope you all are doing very well.
I am an Engineer with PhD (in Engineering) and 5+ years of work experience in oil and gas industry (living in Calgary, Canada). I always appreciate what I learned from Engineering, both at school and work experience, But I feel that this is not an area that I want to stay there by the end of my career life. its for almost a year that I am doing research about several options that I want to and can consider for my next career path and eventually based on my personal interest, I have decided to consider Finance as one of the main 2 areas that I would LOVE to land in there (Management consulting firms is the other area that I am considering as well). The biggest challenge that I have right now is "which areas among all available options (IB, BE, HF and etc.) I have more chance ?
Just to make it clear my salary at the moment is good enough (+130K) and I know I may get significant cut as a result of this move. but I am absolutely OK with that as I know this cut in salary won't stay for a long time and this will be paid off if I stayed focus and be patient. So, as I said, still the biggest issue and challenge that I have right now is at which area and for which jobs I have more chance of getting offer by knowing this fact that I have no work experience in finance at all. At the end, I would like to add this comment that I registered for CFA level 1 exam in December and I am preparing myself as hard as I can for that exam.

Hope to hear back from you :-)

Respectfully yours,
Mehdi
