Thanks guys - Received an offer from a BB in Canada

What's up,

I used this forum for a lot of research in the past month, and I'm pleased to tell you that I received an offer from a BB in Canada and I accepted it.

The question i have is do you think I should begin working on my CFA? I think if I start now, I can have level 1 done by the time I will start as an analyst. Thanks

Congrats on the offer. I received an offer from a BB in Canada earlier this month as well - I wonder if we're at the same firm.

I was also trying to decide whether I should begin working on my CFA so that I would have level 1 done by the time I start full-time. At the same time, I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I can do between now and next year to get as prepared as possible so I can hit the ground running. Thanks.

I'm doing level 1 right now. and its damn hard. To do it with full time IB job will be impossible. So i got a week leave in which i will try to prepare as much as possible.

only wish i started the CFA earlier.

Enjoy your time off, take the easiest classes, party a lot AND if you have enough time, then only study for the CFA.

Totally agree, they will teach you everything you need to know in training. While you still have time to enjoy life, do it. Don't waste the remainder of your senior year, party and enjoy the last few amazing months in college.

Would you mind sharing with us how you landed the job? Thanks

How i got it: -Working my ass off in university (B.Comm & B.Sc EE) -High GPA -Interesting work experience -Learning "Investment Valuation" by Damodaran -Studied everything i could find about Ibanking interviews (Vault.com, etc) for a month -Had a good personality -Networking

It's IVY league pedigree that will get you a job (although it sure doesn't hurt) It's hard work and determination, lots of studying both in and out of the class room.
