What is success?
My definition of success is personal fulfillment.
If you're like Mother Theresa and you enjoy being impoverished and helping the needy, and you live that dream every day, I consider you successful.
If you work in Fast Food and are single and live in an apartment and play video games all day, but can look back on your life and say "that's what I wanted to do," I consider you successful.
If your parents forced you to do something and you never went your own way and found happiness, it doesnt matter how much money you make. If you're not fulfilled inside I think you're a failure.
I enjoyed your honest evaluation of the new WSO intern post. Who is that guy you were talking about in the post? He sounds very intelligent, and also sounds very attractive. Does he go to HBS?
Lmao you're almost as bad as I am
Why aren't there more powerusers who spend as much time as I (and you to a lesser extent) do on here? How do we get more powerusers here?
Or I guess why don't people who use the site post more in your opinion, as a power user?
I'll be honest, I haven't seen any posts from @Isaiah_53_5" or EliteStudent11 recently. They're two big power-users on the site. Hopefully they didn't get banned.
But to answer your question, several reasons come to mind. For one, this site gets boring. After the 400th thread about a high school kid trying to get an internship, or some moron lying about his GPA by 0.000000025 points and asking if he'll get busted, all of the good questions have already been asked so there isn't a lot of engaging content to read or comment on. Secondly, I would imagine that you - like myself - are not working full time, and do not have a large social circle. So we have the time and energy to dedicate to this site unlike others.
it's so fun to joke around though, the site never gets boring for me. everyone bit so hard on the last thread when I said I'd need $100k to work an extra 10 hours per week haha
5:13 on this past Sunday's Half Iron
Was going for sub 5, but heat slowed me down a bit on the run, and kept getting boxed in on the swim. Still was a PR for me. Didn't swim train much, mainly bike.
Next race is at altitude in Boulder in June. Full Ironman (140.6). I was initially going for just a finish, but plan to devote nearly all my attention to training for it from now till then to possibly have a shot at getting to Kona, which might mean a 9:20:XX or around there, which would be insane. I think I need to get my bike to about 23mph for 112mi. Course looks ok in Boulder. Not a fan of some of the U turns on the course, but it seems like a formidable goal that I'm working towards now. I didn't plan on going for this goal initially and might only hit 10:XX or 11:XX or 12:XX hours, but I have about 49 days to train, so currently am ramping up to one more peak heavy training weeks in the next couple weeks. Currently doing a lot of core work to prep for heavy heavy training days (maybe 6-7000 calorie days (burned)). Should start to get realllll interesting soon. I am going to incorporate more heat / sauna type stuff as well. If by some miracle I get a slot, I'll be fully committed to train for Kona this year, but honestly I don't think I'll be able to qualify until 2022 or 2023. I really just jumped into these competitions for time and I have a lot to learn.
Race: 4/14
Loading @ McDonalds (4/12 + 4/13) lololol
