The suspense is killing me! How long should I expect to wait after a GS interview?

So I recently completed a third round of interviews with a few different people from a GS executive office team. I felt the interview went quite well, and I sent thank you notes to all my interviewers. Some of them even responded back very warmly, appreciating my interest in the industry.

It's been precisely one week as of today since I had my interview, and I am just not sure what to think anymore. I've read that successful interviewees usually hear back quickly with offers, but it's been quite some time. I know the actual recruiting season is over and this is one of the specialized positions so the timeline may be different, but when is it appropriate for me to contact them again?

Relax. If you don't hear back from them by the end of the week, shoot them a quick email on Monday asking them about the current status of the position.

I've been waiting for about 11 months....I think they're just really slow to respond. I may shoot HR an e-mail next month if I still haven't heard back

At least you haven't been waiting 3 years and 8 months to hear back from Lehman Brothers. Their HR department is a mess, almost as bad as Enron's.

What's funnier is that you didn't realize GoldBallSachs was kidding. C'mon man, his name is GOLDBALLSACHS. It can't be any clearer that he was joking.

I just heard back from a prop shop in Chicago that literally took 6 months to get back to me. Obviously a ding, and I didn't even remember the first interview...

^ That's the worst, when a firm emails you or something so late in the future that you didn't even remember being in consideration for the job in the first place.

from my experience that is literally all that can happen from an on-line app through a company. that or no response at all. Maybe in better times they'd actually check that shit, but nowadays its OCR or networking or nothing at all imo
