Today is the fifth anniversary of Voyager 1 entering into interstellar space.

Voyager 1 is launched in 1977 and it probably has less computing power than an iPhone that people use to watch cat videos with. However, it has left the Solar system behind and became a symbol of exploration and curiosity. In 1990, Voyager 1 took the photo known as Pale Blue Dot. Earth's size is less than a pixel in the photograph. Whenever I look at that photo, I can't help but wonder about the vast universe and feeling a sense of wonder and curiosity.

This news and this photo make me lament about the current state of the space program and general public's indifference. Over this past 40 years, people seem to care less and less about scientific progress and exploration. The politicians on both side of the aisle are only interested in pushing their own agendas. The left only focuses on identity politics and the only science they care about is climate change. The right has been hijacked by the types who believe the Earth is 6000 years old. NASA has became a stagnate bureaucracy. The general public just simply don't give a fuck. Now, not everyone needs to become a scientist or an astronaut, but I just wish the society would care a little bit more about science.

"That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there – on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam."
Carl Sagan at Cornell University in 1994

Always had a fascination with space, however finance got the best of me. On the bright side, there is actually a reinvigorated interest in space exploration, with companies like Space X taking some initiative. Jeff Bezos also has founded a similar company, if I'm not mistaken. Let's see what the future holds.

To infinity... and beyond!
