Told a celebrity I was a huge fan but blanked on their name

A couple days ago I was walking around the center of London when I ran into Michael Peña. Not a huge celebrity but I saw him in films like 'The Martian', 'American Hustle' and 'Shooter' so I figured I would go say hi. As I walk up to him I totally forget his name. Everything. Couldn't remember his first name or surname but by this point I committed to walking towards him and he saw me coming. The following conversation ensued:
Me: "You're an actor right? I've seen you in a few movies!"
MP: "Yeah that's right"
Me: "Damn man, I forgot your name though. What is it again?"
MP: "Michael Peña..."
Me: "Huge fan man! Make sure you keep up the great work"

He then proceeds to give me a "who the fuck is this guy?" stare and crosses the road in a rush. Hands down one of the most awkward celebrity encounters I've had. If there was every a moment to cringe it was then.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a celebrity fuck up they can share so I know I'm not the only one to make celebrities cringe
