i've heard low 60s around chicago.
im not sure about the sign-on, i would guess anywhere from 2-10k
what can you expect for a bonus?
i wish i knew, but i dont. sorry
I got a FT offer at a Big Four TS group in Silicon Valley. Salary is a bit low, 54K with 2.5K sign on. Not sure what the bonus will be. Maybe the east coast pays more.
How often do TS professionals travel?
Did the interview ask technical questions or just behavioral questions?
From the info sessions I attended for the Big 4 I gather it can be anywhere from a couple days a month to 60% of the month.
When I interviewed for a couple of TS positions the only technical question I had was a walk through of a DCF model.
As far as salary and bonus; a guy I work with, who at the time of the offer had 8 years of consulting experience with an okay firm was offered a job with a big 4 TS group with a salary of 160 and a bonus of 40.
What division of the TS group are you going to be in? If you're doing valuation work, you will hardly ever travel. That being said, if you're on the due diligence side then you can expect to travel between 60-100% depending on the group.
A first year TS associate will typically make 60's, with the bump over other associates coming from a nicer bonus. TS associates work alot of hours(60-80) so pay shouldn't be your motivation here unless you're going to hop to a PEG after you set up a nice network.
what do you mean by PEG?
private equity group
Oh i figured that TS had a hard enough time breaking into IB, so I didn't even realize they be able to get into PE.
TS groups work very closely with PEGs. The normal route is to do TS for about 5 years(until manager) and then make the jump to a PEG. TS and IBD are seen almost as being even in terms of experience and analytical abilities. I have a friend who is a CFO for a large multinational and he has said on more than one occasion that 1 year with TS is worth about 7 years in the corporate world.
