Is moving from Equity Research to Management Consulting possible? I know it is uncommon, but has anyone seen any similar moves?

Yes, I have a friend that was 6 years in ER who just joined MBB as an associate (in London)
Associate consultant as in entry-level at Bain? Is there no carryover in seniority/tenure from ER

I see a lot of former ER people working for industry-specific knowledge/research teams at my firm. Making the direct jump to a client-facing consulting role as an experienced hire should be possible, but ER -> MBA -> Consulting is the more common route I've seen.
