Transitioning out of Trading
I currently work for a Fortune 500 Company as a Fixed Income Trader hedging a mortgage pipeline as well as the MSR servicing rights of a company. My education consists of a Bachelors in Economics as well as a Masters of Science in Statistics from a non-target school (Texas A&M). Also a Level III CFA candidate. How likely is it that I could transition out of trading into something like PE or a Hedge Fund... and if so, how would I go about crafting a story with the skills I've gained as a trader on a Mortgage desk.

You're welcome.
I'd say that your Masters of Science in Statistics is probably the best thing you have going for you in addition to your experience. Do you use those skills in your current job (statistics)? Do you know how to code/program? Are you in the Midwest/South or in a major hub?
I am in the South.
