University of Bristol: an underrated choice?

I'm looking for an insurance in case my application at the US universities such as Vandy UT Austin etc. doesn't work.

In London I'll try to apply for LSE LBS and others.

But according to efinancialcareers and other rankings, University Of Bristol placed very well in IBD and in BB or boutique like Lazard etc. ( http://news.efinancialcareers.com/uk-en/199099/to… )

What's your thoughts?

Being not in London influence your networking possibility, but if the school has good OCR no probs.

Hey, are you applying for undergrad or postgrad? LBS is postgrad-only. Regarding Bristol, idk about underrated but it's definitely possible to break into IB from there (I personally know people who have), don't know about ocr though - am sure someone who went to uni there will come along soon to answer that. Other schools you may want to think about are Warwick & UCL & Imperial, maybe Durham & St Andrews (besides Oxbridge /LSE). HTH

Thanks for the reply. I'm considering a postgraduate MSc in a financial field, so these are the best options available. According to that ranking Durham and St Andrews are down Bristol and Cass. I think my first Uks bets are: LSE, LBS, UCL, Imperial, Cass -> Bristol

Ah okay, I was referring to undergrad regarding Durham & St Andrews. Hmm, I don't know as much about postgrad recruitment, but tend to agree that the best places are the ones you mentioned. Am assuming you're in your last year of undergrad / one year out & going to recruit for analyst positions during the msc? At the London-wide recruitment events I went to during my undergrad, I met people from all the London schools you mentioned + KCL, they were often undergrads, but sometimes msc students. I'm guessing that the same goes for Bristol (i.e. you could probably go to the recruiting events for analysts along the undergrads). You could also look at the Oxbridge MFE/Mphils or Warwick.

Great stuff bro thank you for your inputs! Yes I'm at the last uni year interested in pursuing a career in PE (i'm intern now). You're undergrad or postgrad student in Uk?

Bristol does quite well when it comes to IB placement at the undergrad level, it's definitely not unusual to see alumni at BBs (including the top ones) and elite boutiques in London from there. However, there are other universities at undergrad that place better in the UK (Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial and Warwick). I'd probably put Bristol next, (followed by Durham, Nottingham and Cass). Bristol also does not have the same presence outside the UK that the unis I mentioned before it do.

At the postgrad level, I don't think Bristol has the same recognition that it enjoys at undergrad. Doing a finance-related MSc at LSE, LBS, Oxb, Imperial, Warwick or Cass would serve you better.
