Honestly UT places very well by itself and BHP gets the best of that. MBB only recruits from BHP and is about 10-15 a year atleast. About 30-35 BHP kids end up in finance roles in NYC not only in IB, but also Hedge Funds. A lot of people get roles in Texas but if you know you want to go to NY it’s not much more difficult. The community of BHP is nice and BHP students get invited to networking events, community events, dinners with professors that seem pretty fun, and a lot of other things. It’s probably a hard choice since Cal and especially Haas is very prestigious and you can get great jobs there. However, you’re still just one of many there and Cal has some of the hardest academics you can find as well as huge classes. BHP allows you to get MBA professors for mccomb’s core classes that allow you to forgo most of the large, impersonal lectures that you’ll still find at Cal. Honestly it will come down to what you want from your undergrad.

Honestly, in a very similar situation as you as well! Also UT BHP and from the Bay Area. I'm currently leaning towards UT personally due to various reasons, including the smaller limited community, and the whole "big fish in small(er) pond" that BHP helps provide, which, while @ Berkeley you have access to an excellent program, you are fighting for a lot less non-guarenteed spots with a lot more people, as well as its potential pipelines towards NY. Honestly, I'm also still trying make a final say as well. Would love to chat over PM! =)

Is the update that you now have a full ride at UT? I saw this post a few days ago and was going to comment but got busy.

My advice is purely anecdotal having screened resumes and met kids from both schools.

From what I've seen BHP will place better than Haas. It's elite in terms of placement with nearly every kid going somewhere good. My general impression of Berkeley is that it's a great school, but recruiting is tough given the competition and the fact that it's a lesser Stanford. I would get a mass of resumes from Berkeley each year and frankly, it was tough to even differentiate between the students.

UT is kind of rah rah Texas, but the nice thing about that is UT alums really look out for each other, especially given how big of a school it is. Berkeley has less of this type of school spirit. I've also heard mixed reviews on Berkeley's culture in general, it's a big school so hard to generalize, but it has more of an academic mentality to put it nicely. UT will be more fun in general. Depending on what type of person you are, that could be a plus or minus.

It sounds like you're from the Bay Area right? If I were you and now that money isn't an issue, I'd lean towards UT. Austin is a great town, it'll expand your horizons and given that you're already into BHP vs having to compete to get into Haas, it feels like a no brainer. If you had already gotten into Haas, it might be a little closer, but I think you'll have a slightly better chance recruiting out of BHP.
