value of military leadership

Let's keep it short and simple:

2.9 GPA from USNA - English major Rugby team captain (All American) Work: Special Forces for 6 years GMAT: 680 Lots of stories, lessons learned, values reinforced

Only want HBS/W/UVA

Chances? Anyone work with former military who switched to finance? Can I break in with lots of motivation/interest? Is there a best fit position for former military within IB/PE ?

Thanks

Special Forces.... You entered the army after being commissioned or you're saying special ops?

There are definitely a lot of people on this board that can point you in the right direction

OP was a Navy SEAL . First, I want to say thanks for serving, I am a HUGE military buff and find all special forces utterly fascinating (Force Recon my personal fav).

I don't know how competitive you would be at Harvard or Wharton. UVA you would be really competitive. I cannot say for sure, so please apply and see what happens. I say your not too competitive only because I think a GPA of 2.9 with a soft major and a 680 GMAT will hurt you a lot.

Let me say this though, I think you could get into top 5-15 schools and with your experience you would do very well with a little networking. You would probably be an awesome trader and really well received. Trust me, I really can't imagine an Associate or MD looking at you and questioning your poise under pressure or work ethic. Some people need need top 5 to break in, you can do it with 5-15 no doubt.

Emerging Alpha...SEAL. I didnt know how well informed the board was, thought it would be easier to understand.

Thanks Anthony, I'll find this OP guy.

Ha, OP = Original poster ie. You. It's ok, while you were out being bad ass I was mastering internet speak ha.

There is a poster on here who you should get a hold of. Where is Gekko when you need him.

You were a navy SEAL? Damn, shits impressive. You should get your GMAT up, I feel like a solid score combined with special forces would make you very competitive.
