Value of Part-Time MBA

A VP at the firm I worked for this summer was getting his part-time MBA from a great school like Booth, Kellogg, Haas. I was curious how part-time MBA graduates are viewed relative to people who completed an MBA FT. Does getting a part-time MBA hold the same weight as a FT MBA as you progress in your career? On your resume, do you have to note it as part time?

Several years after the PT/EMBA program, the degree is mostly seen as an 'MBA' and nothing else. Ppl tend to glance over the E or PT part of the degree, as that doesn't really matter as much at that point.

The biggest difference is during the program, as in less OCR, less career switching potential, diff classmate network, etc..etc...

The biggest difference between FT and PT is the resources (your schools career development office). FT career development is focused on transition into a brand new industry (that's why you do the summer internship and see if it's for you). For PT, it's more about advancement in your current job/industry, that way you can work and still go to class. Career development holds recruiting events specifically for FT students and PT students aren't allowed to attend. Other than that, I don't really see a difference. You can recruit / network on your own and still land a job anywhere you want. A PT MBA is a FT MBA, is a EMBA, is an online MBA....they are all masters degrees in business. You don't specify the method in which you obtained your degree on your resume.

That's helpful. So I've been told. Although, I know my program's cohort doesn't block OCR access to PT MBA's. It's just the difficulty of attending OCR events, etc bc of work.
