We need to leverage Off Topic

We all have different places in corporate society. But I think we are stronger together. We have the roles to cover a successful company - so lets establish a vision and rock on - right?

Honestly there has to be some:

developer analyst (x50) quant (x10) accountant (x50) consultant (x70) IB (x50)

so much talent at bay

What do you want to create?

I’m interested. Let’s all get as fucked up as you and make something

Exactly. I think brainstorming is an important first step. I don't think there needs to be 1 singular focus, but could possibly have a handful of ideas whereby some succeed and some fail like VC. Or to have some projects start and get dropped due to others being more profitable.

Just throwing a random idea out there - but imagine we make a proprietary financial management software for small businesses. There are a lot of small businesses that are mismanaged and if they just put their info into this program, it might open the window for them to make better financial decisions. We could get a group together to design the interface and sell the interface and also sell consulting services to aid businesses in making smart decisions to drive profits for them.

If someone had a good investment idea, I think there are enough people around to create some good leverage if they sell it well.

I think there are a lot of areas to pursue. I don't have any timeline or anything - just thinking of the long term and getting the proper people in place.

I'm serious about 10% for Patrick of total equity if anything legit is created. Its proper.

Each idea generator is automatically the account manager. Then a team runs the idea. I think it could be something - especially as a lot of people are sitting around at home with extra time wanting to get $$$ and put good things on their resume.

Name would have to be classy for good resume cred.

Although people on this forum may not have experience with this, there's actually a pretty high-demand for licensed services like this in cybersecurity and administration. With WFH accelerating the onboarding of enterprise software, many traditionally run small businesses would gladly outsource digital management and security to a third party. Maybe if we expand this idea to create a management software system that not only handles financial management but also a cybersecurity arm, marketing arm, etc. I like this idea and it makes sense to focus on a niche at first, but just some thoughts for expansion. As for name ideas, what about Waterfall?

Actually I think the second step is brainstorming, with the first step being establishing a collaborative platform to bring everyone together - maybe like a Google document.

I think this will prove to be difficult. Preserving anonymity and working effectively will be hard, so we need to pick the right platform for that. Google Documents may/may not be it. We should explore other options though.

Feel free to shit on this as I'm a high schooler, but I really like what some people mentioned about helping small businesses with financial management, cybersecurity, administration, and more. (we'll probably need a bunch of coders to make anything happen though)

At the same time, before moving forward, we need to understand exactly what small businesses need. From what I've learned about entrepreneurship from both theoretical study and actual trial and error, we can't do anything before truly understanding the exact problem. That's the only way we can pick an effective niche. I think we should come up with a list of different services that we think that we can offer based on our collective strengths and qualities. Then we need to create a medium of measuring which services are in the greatest demand and in which sectors they are in demand. We can expand later, but I think we have to nail down this initial niche first.

In regards to some of the services we should include in our market research and eventually offer (I'm pulling these of the websites of all 3 MBB firms btw) I think sales, marketing, customer service/satisfaction, cost transformation, procurement, operations, strategy, sustainability, M&A, PE, organization, transformation, agility, acceleration, risk management, financial management, design, change management, client learning, diversity/inclusion promotion, growth, innovation, social impact, and probably more. Obviously, many of these won't be possible so this list has to be refined, but I think it's something to start with in regards to market research. Let me know what you guys think.

Also, it's physically impossible to do this anonymously. We have to eventually expose ourselves. The only thing we can do to protect ourselves is make sure that our real identities (which have to be known) aren't connected to our profiles on this forum. I think the best way to do this is to create some sort of document and have everyone interested on working on this (let's keep the idea to this thread btw so that it doesn't get too big) put down their emails and names anonymously.
