What are some colleges that an "average" student should apply to that wants to break into IB?

I have 3.4-5

multiple clubs

sports

from the Mid Atlantic

I understand I probably won't get into any target or probably any semi targets

Do some linkedin searching to see if the school you are looking at feed people to IB.  Then pick the one that feeds the most.  Anything closer to new york or San fran is going to typically be better.  IE Fordham - It may be a lower ranked school but becuase its basically in the city you are going to have an easier time recruiting.

Your local state college/other in state. Kill it during the first year and then attempt to transfer somewhere better that you couldn't/most likely won't be able to get in right out of high school. Make sure you to work hard on improving those habits that affected your gpa. A lot of high school students with bad habits tend to do even worse in college (more freedom to let those bad habits run wild). There are a students of course who turn it around and excel during college, but once again they work on fixing those bad high school habits.

This is the best advice on this whole thread. Depending on your state, this is likely the best way forward.

A school like TCU. Low requirements to get in but once you are there, you can hustle ur way to a IB internship. TCU sends 15-20 people to IB (mostly at BB and top MM) every year.

TCU kids throwing MS when a simple LinkedIn search shows a total of 6-8 people in NY IB at any level at any bank (includes MM). There is a single VP. All the rest are Analysts/Associates. 3-4 BB, no EBs, 3-4 MMs. You need a 4.0 or have your dad know someone to get any kind of chance. My experience at TCU is its a bunch of Dallas rich kids who think they are big finance people but then end up working WM in the JPM Dallas office. Stop shilling TCU from the Tobin Dallas office guys.
