I'd love your input on some solid shops that hire straight out of undergrad down there. I'd love to be in acquisitions, but I'd also go into REIB or debt and equity placement.
I'm currently interning in asset management at a private equity firm that has revenues between 1 - 2 billion in the east coast, which is great experience but I'm much more of a transactions type. I'd transfer internally with the firm I'm at but they do not have an office in California which is where I'm from and all my family is still there.
Thanks!

Hey ivy200, I'm the WSO Monkey Bot and I'm here since nobody responded to your thread! Bummer...could just be time of day or unlucky (or the question/topci is too vague or too specific). Maybe one of these topics will help:
Or maybe the following WSO members have something to say: @catcat2018" @Maxtimmons @Asset Management Guru
Hope that helps.
Bump
I was recently messaged by a staffing agency looking for a Real Estate Associate to work on the debt side in L.A. Would you like a referral?
Kor Group has an opening for an Analyst. They have some cool projects going on in West LA right now.
Bellwether Asset Management has 3 openings. They work closely with Oaktree Capital's Real Estate Fund.
Fifth Wall, a major Real Estate Venture Capital Firm, has an opening for a VC Analyst.
I'm interested in these places as well. Could you tell me where the job postings are? I'm having a hard time finding any info on their websites/linkedin related to openings.

Kor and Fifth Wall are both on Linkedin. From my understanding, Fifth Wall recruits from top-tier target schools. So I would take that into consideration depending on where you went.
Bellwether was from a recruiter. If you're interested, PM me and I'll see if I can put you in touch.
Edit - these are all legit jobs. Don't apply if you don't have qualified experience.
duke, i've seen the bellwether name floating around. do you know the exact arrangement between them and oaktree (since oaktree has their own dedicated RE group). is it like lone star/hudson where one does transactions and the other is asset management? been wondering this for a while
PM me
Any idea how much fifth wall pays?

i'm looking to move back eventually as well but check out the career websites of the following funds:
CIM (some postings on their website)
DLJ has an analyst opening in LA currently
Pimco just raised a couple B for real estate debt
Saw a KBS listing a few weeks ago
Seems like SoCal is full of opportunities these days, seeing a lot of solid openings through headhunters
yup, have been seeing lots of open postings as well on the usual suspects--linkedin, glassdoor, etc
Companies Headquartered in SoCal:
CIM Group
Oaktree
Kennedy Wilson
Howard Hughes Corporation
Douglas Emmett
Kilroy Realty
Hudson Pacific Properties
Arden Realty
Lowe Enterprises
Major brokerage shops (EX: JLL), banks (EX: JPM), and international institutional owners/developers (EX: Tishman) all have offices within the locale.
Howard Hughes is HQed in Dallas

Depends on the role. PM to discuss further.

I would also add Caruso to this list, they seem to be doing some good work. CBRE, JLL, Cushman, and NKF seem to have the largest presence in most markets. Colliers, MM, and Voit seem to be substantially less prominent for brokerage shops. Hines is another big one (based in Texas) that has presence in LA. Majestic Realty Co. is good for industrial and retail type stuff I think.
If we're doing brokerage, don't forget Eastdil. Even though their LA office doesn't do the most business, I imagine that Roy March spends a lot of his time at that office since I see him at Hillstone quite often.
Hackman Capital - starting to do some cooler projects in the Creative Office space. Recently did a few creative office conversions for Apple, Beats, Amazon Studios.
The Runyon Group - doing really interesting retail concepts. (Row DTLA, Platform, Valley Country Mart).
in LA its obviously Irvine Company, one of the best
