What are your favorite documentaries?

Hi guys as an avid watcher of various documentaries ranging from Finance, Political, Property, Wildlife -related documentaries etc, just curious to know what everyone else is watching and would appreciate any recommendations

Favorite "Property" documentary?

I'm 5/6 episodes into Wild Country. It's kind of a crazy story, but tbh, I don't think they were doing anything wrong at the start and for a long time. The idiot hillbillies wouldn't stop fucking with them and drove them to do what they did. Which still wasn't all that crazy. Overrated doc. So was Making a Murdered. I only watched half an episode but it was just not interesting.

Hunting Hitler was super cool. It's confirmed Hitler escaped and South America had a massive Nazi presence and puppet governments.

Please link to this confirmation. Because I just watched 24 nonconsecutive hours of FBI, CIA, several foreign intelligence agencies, and military members comb through evidence, dive into lakes and oceans with cameras, go into jungle and mountain compounds, interview government officials, etc. to conclude that there is insufficient - and barely any at all, in fact - evidence that he killed himself in that bunker where we are taking the Russians' word that they found his body and produced nothing but a skull that tested as female recently. And Hitler aside, the confirmed Nazi atrocities in South America and the governmental cooperation of the Danish and several South American governments is very interesting.

"New York: A Documentary Film" by Ric Burns. I think he wanted to one-up his brother Ken's "The Civil War"Interesting, informative, comprehensive, and a day long, it is a great documentary.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Ken Burns - "The Civil War"

A little dated now, but it features really superb historical analysis, interviews, and poignant vignettes relating to all angles of the conflict (big and small), interspersed with great historical artifacts and 90's era video footage of nature on various civil war battlefields, to the accompaniment of some good music from that era (or adapted to sound like it).

Not that I'm a documentary buff, but I'd believe that most documentary buffs would put this in their top-documentaries-of-all-time list. It is truly a deep and immersive dive into the subject matter, without any of the bias or gimmicky techniques that I find netflix documentaries to be so rife with.

"Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead" on Netflix - the story of the National Lampoon magazine, including related enterprises such as Animal House, Caddyshack, and to some extent, the beginnings of Saturday Night Live. If you have a pulse and a sense of humor, this will help point you towards the true north of American comedy in the second half of the 20th century.

The Fog of War – Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

Hands down the best documentary I've ever seen regarding political spies, WW II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, the various presidents' personal positions on various conflicts, ditto for various generals, barrel-fire-bombing huge portions of Japan, etc. Robert McNamara was one of the most influential and amazing individuals of the 20th century.

Yup - Fog of War is sooooooo underrated. Aside from the fact that it's one of the most well done documentaries from a film perspective Robert McNamara is one of most fascinating and honest narrators. There's a scene where he's talking about the Cuban Missile crisis and just how close the world was to WWIII (

) that always gives me goosebumps. If you even remotely paid attention to history in high school or college the names and events alone will make you feel like you're stepping back in time. Still my favorite documentary ever.

If you have Netflix check out American Greed, I watched them all and they are all great (favorite is the one about King Shkreli), Investors Archive on youtube has a ton of fireside chats that are good to see the life stories about the best businessman in the world. Although it is old, Wal-Mart: The high cost of low price is really interesting but I watched it in high school but you probably already know most of it, Haven't watched Enron: Smartest Guys in the Room yet but I heard its really good. Generation Startup was interesting to me because I grew up near Detroit, its about 6 (or 7 I can't rember) make/work at start-ups in Detroit. There is one on Youtube about Warren Buffet, ill try to find and link it, and I really enjoyed it.

Sorry for the typos I really don't want to reread this

Warren Buffet Documentary:

The Force is very good. About the management of the Oakland PD, very interesting if you’d like to see how you can mismanage an organization.

Long Way Around and the second version Long Way Down.

I actually met Mickey in a random bar in North Miami, FL. He's a chill dude, told us tons of stories about how he thought Escobar people are idiots. The metal calculation when it comes to transportation of coke depending on weight, weather and speed is fascinating

The PBS series on the Vietnam War by Ken Burns was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Get Me Roger Stone on Netflix.

It is a great look into one of the top Republican political adviser who has been around for a long time. It goes into the dirtier tricks in politics and how this man used them in many elections.
