What Happened at Goldman?
Just saw a story posted by one of the finmeme accounts - did someone beat the shit out of an intern at Goldman or something?
Sorry if I'm way late or if this has been talked about elsewhere.

If I remember correctly from months ago, someone senior in a group punched an intern in the stomach as a “joke”. Punched him so hard that he passed out and suffered multiple injuries.
Jesus christ, that's fucked up
No, he passed out after the senior choked him unconscious.
Yea that too lmao
Good lord.
Just imagine people asking “how was your internship at Goldman? :)” “Oh I got brain damage by a deranged Russian mobster”
I can't imagine what it takes to get more than a formal warning at GS. Probably just losing the firm money.
That was quite the read. Pretty fucked if it's true.
"Blumenthal went to the hospital, where he claimed he was diagnosed with a “hemorrhagic stroke.” He alleged in his lawsuit that he continues to suffer from some of the side effects of the incident—PTSD, mental anguish, a brain injury, and physical pain—some of which may be “permanent.”
Yikes...poor kid.
You'll be pleased to know that Bloomberg is reporting that Goldman et. al. have settled with Mr. Blumenthal. If his complaint is remotely true, I hope he gets enough money to be set for life, which I imagine will be the result here.

Wow.
You know how people say "kids these days are sensitive snowflakes who can't handle a little hard work and some casual hazing"?
This is... not that.

I'm imagining the guy to be like this. That's scary as shit.
Much of that reads as staging for a civil lawsuit. The phrasing of the language and the dramatic flair in the presentation reeks of a crafted legal complaint. This isn't to discount the terrible things alleged but I think reality is likely much more tame than this telling is. This is how you win these types of lawsuits, the plaintif never wants them to end up in a courtroom, hell I would argue they want that less than the defendant does. Mostly because there will be an inordinate number of "character" wittnesses that will tear this person a new one. All it takes to turn a jury off is to paint the image that the plaintif as a whinny complainer who shirked at work and offloaded responsibility to others. That will 100% happen. There are enough hungry young guys at GS that will happily lie on the stand to undercut the lawsuit in hopes of a nice bump to their bonus.
There either is or isn't a radiologist who has an image that indicates loss of brain function in the frontal lobe. There either are or aren't witnesses who would see this man go lights out in a public setting and urinate himself from lack of oxygen.
