What kind of machine learning do fundamental HFs use?

I have one (and most likely 2 since I passed a coding challenge) interviews with MultiManager funds coming up for ML engineering.  What kind of data science and ML are generally used in the industry?  I understand they do a lot of skimming through alternative data to find insights, but I'd like to get a deeper understanding.

From what I have heard from my stats/ml friends at HFs is that the work is kinda to supplement different analyses / theses the analysts have. Like if they think a certain quarter will be good for Apple, they may ask a stat guy to like analyze visa credit card data or something like that to see if there is an outsized trend this quarter. Or to do like other types of analyses in support of fundamental modeling / ideas. Good luck and best wishes! :)
