what to do sophomore year
hi everyone,
I am pretty new to all of this. This upcoming school year I will be a sophomore and wanted to know what steps I should take to land an internship next summer to later obtain a IB internship my junior year? does my sophomore internship have to be IBD or can it be something finance related?
i go to Rutgers have not started networking yet and would like to know what I should start doing to better my chances of landing an IB internship junior year and ultimately a full time offer after senior year.

It can be something finance related. Keep in mind, in addition to networking, sophomore year is a big part of crafting your story and deciding why you want to get into banking. So take interesting classes, prep technicals, network and learn basic modelling and you should be fine.
Hell Shoot for Lower level or small boutiques. I don't see why you would not be able to get into a low level shop and then network your way into a more prestigious shop for a SA gig your Junior year.
This will just take a lot of networking and cold emails and calls, but with your close proximity you can probably network much easier.
