What's more powerful an MBA or MS in Finance for breaking into the PE industry

Hey Everbody, I love reading the Wall-Street Oasis blog it has great insights. I am a student at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and currently finishing my MS in Finance in Fall 1. I was contemplating about transitioning into the MBA program in order to give my self a better shot to be a suitable candidate for PE. I wanted to know what are some avenues of education and skills that PE firms are looking for. Would I be better off getting an MS and going to a coding boot camp?

coding boot camp will do zero for your PE shots. your best bet is to take your MS and go into IBD and then do PE and then get an MBA. if you do an MBA right now, you will not get into PE. I can’t stress this enough. the people that are fortunate enough to get to do PE after an MBA are those that did PE before their MBA. you don’t want to play the odds of being that 1 guy out of 10,000 that somehow got a PE gig out of MBA with no IBD/PE/Finance work exp.
