What’s the difference between “new technology” and “aging technology” at an investment bank?
I read a few reviews of my MM bank, where people complained that our technology was so outdated, that it was difficult to do work. At the same time, some BBs are praised for having the latest and greatest in tech that supposedly makes a huge difference.
What is considered the latest tech at a bank? The tech stuff at my bank already goes way over everyone’s heads (unless they’re in IT), so are the BB guys building slide decks in 3D and using amazon Alexa to order seamless, or are the people who complain about bad tech just giving excuses because they can’t do the work?

Maybe one day my fucking computer doesn't lag on switching excel tabs I'll start thinking about this question
When I was in banking, we had 2003 excel and internal software that required you to restart your slow computer 5 times a day to work properly.
Plus the outsourced indian graphics team used different software and it would fuck up the formatting 80% of the time so it was a time sink rather than a time savings.
Generally comes down to processing power and age of both the hardware and software used.
