When and How To Exit?
Been in ER for almost 2 years; clearly an excellent opportunity and learned a ton, including numerous certs etc.
I've realized I' extremely unhappy on the job, granted I am doing it well and better as time goes on, but I know I would never want my bosses job.
I've just had too many conversations and rationalizations; its time to do something else. No I'm not "not" willing to put the work in, I do it everyday (for 2 years) its just not what I want to be doing in 2 years, or 2 months.
A few questions for the community.
1) I want to give a lot of notice so nothing is disrupted, should I offer a months notice and help to train someone?
2) I cant find a job while employed, not enough time for interviews so better to quit then look? I have a savings account.
3) What is the survivorship bias like here? No knocks, but assuming most people here are still on wall street so answers may be missing the large % of people who already left?

I'm also interested in exiting for ER but I obviously haven't yet done so myself so probably not in the best place to give advice but just an observation...
I'm surprised that you are prepared to leave your job without another one lined up. I'm pretty sure you are much more attractive as a candidate for other jobs if you still have one. If you're two years in and set on departing, what's wrong with having a few early morning, late afternoon "doctors" appointments here and there? I can only imagine your move would be rational if you want to move to a different city and can't be traveling to interview.
What exactly do you want to exit to?

I am looking specifically at BiZ Dev at a startup. I want to grow a company, be in a strategic role, and be in a startup. Eventually 10-20 years be at a VC.
I think some people leave first, so they have time for interviews.
My real question is do I get 1-2 months notice, and help train someone else, to make sure I leave on the best (and non-disruptive terms)?
